The change in percentage of people in the Raccoon River Valley without a job changed in different directions for the three counties in our primary coverage area.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Dallas County’s unemployment rate increased one-tenth of a percent last month to 3.2 percent.  Guthrie County saw a one-tenth of a percent drop to 3.6 percent and Greene County saw the largest change in August with an increase of half a percent to 4.3 percent.

All three counties were fairing better this time last year when Dallas County’s unemployment rate was 2.6 percent, Guthrie’s was three percent and Greene’s was 3.4 percent.

The statewide unemployment rate increased slightly to 4.2 percent in August.
