It’s been quite the season so far for the ADM boys cross country team here in 2016. It’s a team that despite quite a lot of runners with senior status, there’s not a lot of runners with senior level experience. One of those few individuals with with the title and the experience is ADM senior Brady Meier who has not only excelled as a runner, he’s excelled at being a leader for the team.

Meier has been named one of ADM’s captains here in 2016 by proving it in meets, earning ADM’s fastest times each of the last three meets, but has also shown why he should be a captain through his leadership style. Raccoon Valley Radio sat down with the cross country captain talking a little about the team overall which he states, is improving.

“We do pretty good as a team and we’re getting better. We’re still figuring out who the varsity people are because some are moving up and some are moving down but as a whole we’re improving,” stated Meier.

Meier shows his leadership by noticing improvements in his teammates and not just himself. The senior also told Raccoon Valley Radio that his younger brother Owen Meier has shown the most improvement so far in his eyes.

“I’d say that my younger brother Owen has improved the most because a few meets ago he ran 25 (minutes) and recently he ran 21 (minutes) which will make varsity hopefully,” explained Brady.

And above all else, Brady Meier has shown his dedication to the team overall, interested only in giving his all, all for the team despite all obstacles.

“I just push through the pain if there is any because I’m doing it for my team and helping my team the best I can,” explained Meier.

Both Meier and the rest of the ADM cross country teams have quite the gap between meets just under one week away from their next meet where they will take the short drive to the Perry Golf & Country Club next Thursday to participate in the Leon Fox Invitational.
