jefferson-city-council-9_13The Jefferson City Council met Tuesday night in regular session.

The Council appointed Kevin Devilbliss to fill a vacancy on the Board of Adjustment and Appeals.

The Council then approved a $235,504 contract to Kingston Services, LLC of Des Moines for the 2017 paving projects as presented, advertising for proposals to redevelop 111 East Lincoln Way, the first reading to change to ordinance to eliminate the voting wards and paying $2,800 to update the City code with an agreement with Iowa Codification. The Council also set September 27th as their 2018 fiscal year budget priority workshop.

The Council then awarded six non-profit organizations hotel/motel tax grant funds of $26,000. Recipients included Jefferson Matters: Main Street, Jefferson Kiwanis Club, Bell Tower Community Foundation, Greene County Development Corporation and the Jefferson VFW Post #9599 for painting of the Freedom Rock.

During the reports, Mayor Craig Berry proclaimed September 11th through the 16th as National Assisted Living Week for the City.
