Greene County meets CMB in Maxwell tonight in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference volleyball. Coach Donna Carhill’s Rams are 1-2 in the conference and 4-9 overall, while the Raiders entered this week with a conference record of 0-2 and they were 3-4 overall.

The Rams are coming off a day of close sets on Saturday at the South Hardin Tournament in Eldora where they went 2-3 in games and 6-7 in sets.

Coach Carhill liked the way her team served the ball Saturday, and also the way they battled. In the best two of three pool play to 21 points in Eldora, the Rams had three sets decided by two points, and for the day six sets had margins of five points or less.

The coach pointed out the gym in Maxwell has just one court, so unlike Jefferson and most other places where the freshmen and JV play at the same time on two courts, tonight the freshmen will play at five, followed by the JV, then the varsity.

After tonight, the Rams are off until Saturday, Sept. 17 when they’ll go to Huxley for the Ballard Tournament.
