perry libraryIn addition to providing a safe space where students can read, learn and do their homework, the Perry Public Library has started offering nutritional sustenance.

Children’s Librarian Suzanne Kestel says free after school snacks are being offered each week day.

“Anybody that was in school that day is welcome to come in, sign their name, tell me what grade they’re in and we will give them a free snack.  Sometimes children come just straight from school to the library and I remember when I’d get home off the bus I’d want a snack before supper.  So we want to provide that for the children to kind of tide them over until supper.”

The snacks will be available each weekday from 3:30 until 4:15pm and an hour earlier on Wednesdays due to the school district’s early dismissal.
