The Greene County Schools bond referendum fails to get super majority needed to pass.
According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, the $22.2 million bond referendum for the Greene County School District failed to get 60 percent of the votes needed to pass. The unofficial results were 1,161 votes or just over 53 percent “yes”, to 1,026 votes or just under 47 percent “no”.
Voters also chose Mike Dennhardt to remain on the school board to fill a vacancy. Dennhardt received 1,093 votes of the 1,996 total ballots cast to Jonathon Hinote’s 881 votes.
Of the 5,692 registered voters in the district, 2,193 ballots were cast for a voter turnout of 38.53 percent.
The Greene County Board of Supervisors will canvass the votes at their regular meeting on Monday.
