Several Greene County youth received needed school supplies through the Back To School Supply Drive.
New Opportunities Coordinator Teresa Lansman says 245 children were delivered school supplies for the 2016-17 school year. Last year, they helped 212 children. Head Start kids received backpacks.
She appreciates all the donations that were made, including the Jefferson Rotary Club, Morningstar Masonic Lodge, Jefferson Telecom, American Athletic Incorporated/Spalding/Russell Brand Athletics and Midland Power Cooperative.
“We have three different organizations that have donated supplies between the employees, they kind of had a fun drive and seeing which department could bring in more school supplies than the other departments. Then we also had two different organizations that have helped with financial support. The support from people that have brought into Jefferson Telecom. We could not be doing any of our projects without the continual and amazing effort from the community and each individual.”
The annual Warm Hearts program is coming up in October for youth needing winter coats and other winter clothing items.
