The Guthrie County Conservation Board is looking to put revenue from the Raccoon River Valley Trail into improvements for the trail.
Director Joe Hanner says the Board voted to transfer nearly $16,000 in trail revenues at their meeting Monday. “We discussed that Raccoon River Valley Trail Specialty Use account that was set up two or three years ago for trail revenues. The Board approved taking our trail revenues and putting that into the specialty use account, subject to Board of Supervisors approval.”
He adds the funds can be used for different purposes in improving the trail. “Trail maintenance for large projects, and to begin planning for match for grants for the Yale to the Greene County line asphalt portion that is about 16 or 17 years old. A lot of those grants are 75/25 or 80/20 matching and you’re dealing with pretty considerable dollars.”
The transferred funds are largely made up of $2 daily, and $10 annual trail usage fees.
