If you’re looking to help a local community and put in some volunteer hours this week, Dallas County Habitat for Humanity is in need of some help.

A Rock the Block event is happening in Redfield through Saturday.  Outreach Coordinator Omar Padilla says everyone is encouraged to help and it’s always amazing to see how people change from the beginning of the day to the end.

“To see volunteers come the morning of an event and be not completely sure of how they’re going to get a project done and then see them going through the day and kind of work with the experts that we have on staff, work with each other, team build, team solve so they get together and get to use their logical and resolution skills.  At the end of the day, people leave and feel really empowered to go and do other things, either at their own home or come back for different Habitat projects.”

The Redfield project is the third of five the local Habitat chapter is working on this year.  Daily shifts this week are from 8am until 4pm.  You can sign up to volunteer HERE.
