A Jefferson woman was recently sentenced to probation for forgery.
According to court documents, 33 year-old DeAnn Marie Goff was sentenced to two years of probation after pleading guilty to an amended charge of an aggravated misdemeanor for forgery. She was originally charged with a felony for forgery but court documents show her charge was changed to a misdemeanor.
The charge stems from several incidents that were reported in September of 2015. Police received a call from Sparky’s One Stop gas station in Jefferson on September 15th about Goff passing a bad check for $45.17. Officers found out that Goff stole several checks from a former Jefferson resident and the victim’s bank account had been cancelled.
She was also ordered to pay victim restitution, law enforcement surcharges and court costs.
