A full fiscal year has passed since Wild Rose first opened its casino doors in Jefferson.
Greene County Treasurer Donna Lawson told the Board of Supervisors at their meeting on Monday that the county received $133,329.89 by the end of the 2016 fiscal year. However, the casino didn’t start generating its weekly payout until the week of July 27, 2015, which constitutes 50 weeks for the 2016 fiscal year. Supervisor Vice-Chair Dawn Rudolph talks about what the Board will use the funds on.
“Well at this point, there’s been nothing in specific that we would use those funds for. It is just in our general fund and at this point, we’re hoping to use (those funds) for tax relief.”
Rudolph describes what she personally would like to see the funds be used for.
“Well personally, I want to do some courthouse improvements, which are much needed and we’ve been talking about for several years. So, personally, I would like to see that go to our courthouse improvements.”
Because Greene County is the host county and the City of Jefferson is the host city of the casino, each entity is given one-half of one-percent of the adjusted gross revenue of the casino.
