Guthrie County Static Judging Day took place Monday.
The annual event gives local 4-H’ers the opportunity to show off their many exhibits and earn ribbons and placement for the Guthrie County Fair, and Iowa State Fair.
The event offers categories of interest for everybody. Kael Rutledge, of the Wichita Wildcats 4-H Club, says he likes the creative aspect of certain exhibits. “My favorite exhibit is welding. It allows you to find any piece of junk and turn it into art. One person here found some junk and turned it into what looks like a giant metal spider.”
Cameron Laughery, of the Cass Pioners 4-H Club, is an experienced member who each year enjoys entering baked goods cooked from recipes passed down by her great-grandmother. “I started to do my Great Grandma Majors’ favorite dishes because I wanted to keep the tradition going after she passed away two years ago. I like to bake, it’s my favorite thing to do.”
The Guthrie County Fair takes place September 1st-5th.
