An event this week at the Stuart Public Library and Jim Kloewer Field will teach attendees how baseball was played over 100 years ago.
Summer Reading Program Coordinator Gaby Doud says the program’s being offered by Living History Farms, of Urbandale. “Living History Farms is coming out to the library Wednesday at about 6 p.m., and they’ll start off with a presentation talking about the rules of historic baseball back in 1870, including the equipment they used or didn’t use, and the uniforms. Plus, they’ll be talking about how the game has changed over the years. They will have the equipment they used, the jerseys and they’ll show that to everyone before we get to play our own game of historic baseball.”
Doud and fellow library employee Holly Partlow will tell us more about the event today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
