Greene County High School baseball coach Mark Sawhill has released final statistics for the 2016 season. The Rams lost in the opening round of Class 3A District 4 tournament play to eighth ranked Boone on Friday night in Boone to finish with 11 wins and 17 losses. The team was 3-12 at mid-season, but then won eight of the next 11 before losses to third ranked Saydel (Des Moines) and Boone closed out the season.
We look at offense today. The Rams had a .297 team batting average with 213 hits in 716 official at-bats. This was primarily a singles hitting team that averaged six runs per game. All but 26 of the hits for the season were singles with 24 doubles, two triples, and no home runs.
Senior Reid Lamoureux had the top batting average at .462. Sophomore Tom Gannon was next at .351 with junior Chase Stoline at .348, , senior Branden Miller at .333, and freshman Austin Delp .311. Five starters with season batting averages above the .300 mark allowed the Rams to flirt with a .300 team average.
Lamoureux and junior Calvin Skalla each had one triple, and Stoline and sophomore Wade Adcock led the team in doubles with six. Lamoureux was next in doubles with five. Gannon and Miller each had two doubles with junior Dylan Fouch, junior Logan Lansman, and senior Tyler Beger all collecting one double.
