The large asphalt overlay project in Perry will resume shortly.
Manatts Inc. started the 45 block project back in April but pulled out of Perry after completing around half of it to go work on a project in another community.
Perry Public Works Director Jack Butler explains some of the areas that will be re-done.
“This next phase that’s left is still in a bunch of the neighborhoods. Third Street from Willis to Warford (streets) and then Warford to Otley (streets), that’s really rough. And then we’re going south of Willis (Avenue) to 3rd (Street) and Otley (Street). Otley (Street) from 3rd to 2nd is going to be all milled and overlaid then we’re going to turn there and go down 2nd Street. There is four blocks right there of blacktop and it is absolutely horrible. Still I think we’ve got about 24 or 25 blocks that are going to be milled and overlaid, so this is huge. It’s a big deal.”
Bulter says there will be road closures as the project is being worked on but they will be short lived and should reopen within a few hours.
