Several severe thunderstorms came through the Raccoon River Valley Sunday and Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team brought live, wall-to-wall coverage.
We interrupted regular scheduled programming at 3:20am, when the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northern Greene County until 3:45am. We continued with our live coverage through a second severe thunderstorm warning that was issued from 3:20 until 4:15am for the northeastern part of Greene County. A third severe thunderstorm warning was then issued for Guthrie County from 8:49am to 9:32am.
Heavy rainfall and 60 miles per hour winds were the factors of the storms. There’s been no reported damage at this time.
Two Raccoon Valley Radio staff were in contact with WeatherEye meteorologists, local law enforcement and storm spotters during the storm.
Anytime severe weather threatens Greene, Guthrie and Dallas counties tune into Raccoon Valley Radio for our Severe Weather Action Team coverage until storms drop below severe levels or move out of our primary coverage area.
Update from our original post at 4:45am.
