Anyone who was born since 1972 that plans to hunt this year needs to complete an education course before getting their license.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is hosting a field day course  in Perry on August 2nd.  The four-hour class will teach attendees about handling firearms, ethics and responsibility when hunting and Iowa laws before testing students with a mandatory final exam.  In order to become certified, students need to complete an online hunter education course prior to the field day.

Anyone under the age of 11 needs to be accompanied by a parent or guardian and though 11 year-olds can complete the course, their certificate will not become valid until their 12th birthday.

The field day takes place at the Forest Park Museum from 8am until noon. Space is limited and you can register through the links below.
