As summer continues to roll along, Greene County has a couple of areas where people are allowed to fish.
County Conservation Director Dan Towers says Spring Lake has bluegill, bass and some catfish in it. However, it isn’t the best fishing lake, due to all the pressure it gets from other water activity. But, Towers points out that it is a family-friendly lake with easy access to the water and a level shoreline. He points out one other area that is great for fishing.
“Two years ago we renovated Pound Pits. It’s a smaller area north of Grand Junction about two miles, with about 15 acres of gravel pits and we restocked it with bluegills and bass. We’re just getting to where they’re decent size fish now. So that’s one you might keep in mind.”
Towers adds that there are several farm ponds that are great for fishing, but you have to get permission from the landowner before you can fish in them.
