The Jefferson Elks Club is teaming up again with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department to sponsor the safety camp program next week.

Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says kindergarteners are encouraged to participate in the camp which will cover a variety of topics including bus, bicycle, car, electrical, pool, drugs and alcohol, stranger, railroad, fire, telephone and animal safety. Lautner points out that the camp is a great opportunity for kids to be prepared for lots of potential situations.

“The safety camp offers about everything that the kids need to be aware of. Kids, if they are told and have an idea of what to do with some of these safety things, they’ll react positively and possibly not get hurt. But if they don’t have a clue, then that’s when we have accidents.”

It will be from 9 to 10am from July 18th through the 21st. Space is limited and the program will take place at the Greene County Community Center.
