The Greene County High School baseball team lost 6-4 to Class 3A third ranked Saydel in Des Moines on Wednesday night to close both the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference and regular seasons. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team is 11-16 and plays eighth rated Boone at Boone tomorrow night in a Class 3A first round district tournament game.
Saydel had already clinched the HOIAC title prior to beating the Rams. Greene County trailed 6-0 after six innings before scoring all four of its runs. Wade Adcock had a two-run single and Branden Miller knocked in a run. Another scored on a passed ball. Miller and Chase Stoline each singled as the Rams mustered just three hits on the night.
Tyler Beger was the starting and losing pitcher. He went the first three innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on five hits and a walk. He did not strike out anyone. Adcock relieved and three three innings. He allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits. He had no walks or strikeouts, but did hit a batter with a pitch.
The Rams were charged with four errors while the Eagles were errorless.
