After a day of relaxation and celebrating, the Perry Jayette softball team will get back to work today as they prepare for the school’s first state tournament appearance since 1999. The Jayettes will play Oskaloosa in the 4th and final 4A opening round state game Tuesday night in Fort Dodge. Opening pitch will be at 7:30 and can be heard on KDLS .
“We are going to practice really hard today, tomorrow and Saturday,” added Head Coach Tina Kenney following Perry’s win over DCG Tuesday night. “We want to make sure the girls are as prepared as possible so we can have success at the state level. We’ll be ready to go and refocus in practice.”
Perry has not met Oskaloosa this year and share a few of the same common denominators in similar opponents. Dallas Center Grimes split with Osky during the regular season. Osky won the Little Hawkeye Conference losing only 2 games along the way. Perry defeated 2 Little Hawkeye Conference teams in Norwalk and DCG to earn their ticket to the state tournament.
