As we approach the weekend, there’s a full slate of activities happening Friday at the Greene County Fair.
The 4-H sheep and goat shows will kick things off at 8am in the showring, which will be followed by the beef pen-of-three judging at 9am. Children ages three to ten are invited to participate in a variety of activities with Extravaganza in Clover Hall at 2pm. Then at 4pm will be a pet show in Clover Hall.
“I had somebody come into the (Extension) office a few months ago and said they were interested in a pet show and that some of the kids were interested. We got some stuff together and found some old materials that we could work off of. We have a judge from Ames, Iowa coming to judge so we’re super excited to bring (the pet show) back.”
That’s Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Kayla Hyett describing why they brought back the pet show to the county fair.
Other activities taking place at Clover Hall include the Clover Kids graduation ceremony at 5:15pm, followed by the fashion show at 5:30pm, a trivia contest at 6pm and the fair queen coronation ceremony at 6:30. There will also be a beef barbecue meal and a performance by the Town and Country Band east of the bus barn.
The day wraps up with a free concert in the grandstand with Pat Waters and the Chainlink Band, followed by free fireworks.
