Sunday night was a big night for the ADM Lady Tiger softball team in their quest to head to state. They would be searching for their second regional final trip in two seasons as they took on the Lady Monarchs of Denison-Schleswig.
The big night called some big bats to the stage for the Lady Tigers who would put on an offensive clinic as they downed the Lady Monarchs by the final score of 14-0 in five innings. The big offensive night was part of a well played overall night for ADM as the hometown crowd witnessed 6 Lady Tiger batters record at least one hit while all nine batters would find their way on the base paths. The 14 run ADM offensive explosion consisted of 9 hits and was aided by 5 Monarch errors and 9 walks in the contest.
ADM would start things off with a fielders choice in the first inning off the bat off Kila Carbine and a wild pitch to score a runner in the third inning would put the Tigers up early 2-0. From there the offensive floodgates would open for ADM as 12 runs would ensue between the 4th and 5th inning. It was a very auspicious start for the Lady Tigers in inning number four starting with 2 walks, two hits, and three errors before Lexi Wyant stepped up to the plate and delivered her 11th RBI of the season off a three run home run to left center field.
After the 7 run fourth inning, ADM tacked on 5 more runs in the fifth inning as the Lady Tigers batted through their line up for the second consecutive inning. Two wild pitches would plate home two runners as Molly Jacobsen and Lexi Wyant together would make up for the remaining three runs off of an RBI single from Wyant and a two run shot over the fence in center from Molly Jacobsen.
Inside the circle Molly Jacobsen was untouchable allowing no runs to cross the plate limiting the Monarch offense to no hits in the contest. The lead off walk in the first inning was the only blemish on the night for Jacobsen who allowed just one walk while striking out 12 Denison-Schleswig batters ending the game with four consecutive 1-2-3 innings. A big night indeed for the ADM senior who sat down with Raccoon Valley Radio after the game talking about her thoughts on her performance and the Lady Tigers overall heading into their next game.
With the win ADM has been granted a return trip to the regional finals where they will remain at home to take on the Bishop-Heelan Lady Crusaders. The Lady Tigers will have a two day break before the regional final which will be held this Tuesday beginning at 7:00 pm. You can catch that game on K107.9 FM and online at raccoonvalleyradio.com
