An 8-2 victory in Lytton over South Central Calhoun in non-conference baseball on Thursday night for the Greene County Rams was their eighth in the last 11 games. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team improved to 11-15 with games left against Class 3A fourth ranked Saydel in Des Moines on July 13, and a 3A district opener on July 15 against number two ranked Boone at Boone.
Senior Tyler Beger pitched a complete game vs. the Titans, walking six, fanning four, and giving up just three hits. SCC fell to 18-9 with the loss.
Greene County had single runs in the first, second, fifth, and sixth innings, before a four run seventh put some space between themselves and the Titans. SCC had single runs in the sixth and seventh. Both teams were charged with one error.
Chase Stoline and Austin Delp each had two singles and Stoline drove in a run. Tom Gannon and Beger each had one run batted in without the benefit of a hit. Reid Lamoureux singled and had two RBI with a base hit and a run batted in for both Calvin Skalla and Branden Miller. Logan Lansman and Wade Adcock each added singles as the Rams totaled nine hits.
