Abnormally dry conditions continue across the Raccoon River valley, despite the rain received this week.
According to the National Weather Service, Perry received 1.3 inches of rain this week and Guthrie Center saw almost 1.2 inches. That’s right on track with the normal amount of precipitation for the month so far.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor from the National Drought Mitigation Center shows much of Iowa is experiencing abnormally dry conditions, including Dallas, Greene and Guthrie counties. Meanwhile, the southeast portion of the state is currently in a moderate drought.
