Unemployment rates dropped in all three counties in our primary coverage area last month.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Dallas County saw a one-tenth of a percent decrease since April to 2.6 percent.  Guthrie County’s unemployment rate decreased from 3.6 to 3.3 percent in May and Greene County saw the largest change with a four-tenths of a percent drop to 3.4 percent last month.

All three areas are doing at least slightly better than this time last year as well.  Greene County’s unemployment rate in May of 2015 was four percent, Guthrie County’s was 3.4 percent and Dallas County’s was 2.7 percent.
