The Jefferson Police Department recently released their special Traffic Enforcement Program results.

Sergeant Heath Enns says from May 23rd through June 5th, they issued 16 citations and 70 warnings. Last year, during the Memorial Day sTEP Wave, officers issued 14 citations and 144 warnings.

The most warnings were given for other traffic violations, while three were each given for stop sign violations and driving with a suspended or revoked license, two were each issued for speeding and seatbelt violations and one citation was issued for driving without a license and no proof of insurance. Officers issued 15 warnings each for speeding and vehicle equipment violations.

Additionally, there were two accidents, one narcotics arrest and one motorist assist during the latest sTEP Wave.
