Now that the school year is over, new Greene County High School Band Director reflects back on his first year.
Wes Anderson says he saw lots of improvement from the marching band, to the jazz band and concert band. He is excited to see what the jazz band can do with several players coming back next year.
“We’ve got a killer trumpet section. We’ve got three seniors next year with John Mobley, Jack Schilling and Dylan Davis that are great players. We’re going to rely on them to lead the group next year. Reid Stratton is going to be back on drum set and we’ve got some really good saxophones coming up too and some real good trombones too. So I’m really looking forward to next year’s jazz band.”
Anderson is also looking forward to improving the marching band’s fundamentals to be more competitive at contests and selecting music that the students can be confident in playing to improve the overall tone quality for the concert band.
Anderson was hired to replace long-time director Becky Greiner who retired at the end of the 2014-15 school year.
