The Lady Tiger softball team was looking for a bounce back win after their abbreviated 12-0 loss at Carlisle Wednesday night. ADM would go up against another top ranked team in class 4A as the DC-G Fillies stepped onto the diamond. ADM fans would have a collective sigh of relief as senior leader Molly Jacobsen would be back in the line up for the Lady Tigers after becoming a late scratch against the Wildcats.
Jacobsen and the Lady Tigers would indeed find their way back into the winning column as ADM forced an abbreviated game of their own taking down the Fillies in 5 by the final score of 10-0. Coach Dillinger’s team clearly did not let their prior game effect them as the Lady Tigers came alive again both at the plate and on the field. After a 6 error game Wednesday night the Tigers would put up a zero in that column against DC-G and would earn 7 hits on the night.
The Lady Tigers would practice great plate discipline as ADM was issued 9 free passes on walks for the night, two of those would result in runs crossing the plate. Filly pitcher Rachel Hilman was a little wild with her control on the night as she would also issue three free passes by hitting two batters; opposing pitcher Molly Jacobsen would be hit twice on the night in the first and fifth innings.
ADM scored in each of the five innings played on the night putting up one in the first, two in the second, a four spot in the third, followed by two in the fourth inning and one in the fifth to end the game early. Six Lady Tigers broke into the RBI column. Ashley Tennant and Lindsey Lang would have big nights at the plate each going 2-3 with multiple RBI’s on the night. Lang went 2-3 with with 2 RBI’s as Tennant also went 2-3 with two doubles and pushing across three runs for the Tigers.
Molly Jacobsen would earn the win in her return appearance going 5 strong innings giving up no runs on just two hits with no walks and striking out 7. The Lady Tigers now improve to 13-1 on the season as they welcome in Ankeny Centennial, Ballard, Van Meter, and Colfax-Mingo for a two day tournament in Adel.
