Greene Co Board of Supervisors 5_23The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday.

The Board heard a proposal from Jefferson Matters: Main Street during open forum. Mike Palmer and Chris Heisterkamp requested the Board pay for four metal flower planters to be installed on the courthouse side of the downtown square on the brick columns. The planters cost $700 each. The Supervisors agreed to pay for the planters with Louis Dreyfus funds.

The Board then approved a fireworks permit for Roger Rowles, drainage district assessments and a six percent waiver rate as presented, a $10,890 agreement for IP Pathways to install a new computer network firewall and updating two network switches and a revised proposal from Brooks Borg & Skiles on the courthouse rotunda stain glass dome project to eliminate the pre-bid process and associated travel costs which would decrease the total amount from $4,542 to $3,926.

The Board also approved the 2016 fiscal year budget amendments including a total of $542,447 of additional revenue and $764,144 of additional expenses. The Board then approved to transfer $315,072 from local option sales and services tax to rural to purchase additional gravel.

Finally, the Board heard an update from John Torbert with the Iowa Drainage Districts Association. He said the Des Moines Water Works nitrite lawsuit is currently in Iowa Supreme Court and he expects a hearing to be held sometime this month.
