Greene County High School sophomore Rachael Danielson shot 24 over par 95 on Tuesday during day one of the 2016 Class 4A Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union State Golf Championships. The 36-hole event is being played at the Coldwater Links Golf Course in Ames, a venue that gave most of the girls all they could handle. Seven over par 78 was the top score on Tuesday and a 62 over was recorded by one of the 55 girls in the 4A field.

Greene County girls’ golf coach Heath Telleen said Danielson left some strokes out on the course. “She feels like she could have shot much lower and hopes to improve her score today. Overall, it was a good day for her and it was a good learning experience.”

There are 18 more holes to be played today as the tournament wraps up.
