It has been a mixed bag of results for the Perry baseball and softball teams after the opening week of the high school campaign. The good news is that it is a long season and the opening week is just a tip of the iceberg. The Jayette softball team has looked really strong in their first 3 games posting a 2-1 record. Perry outscored Des Moines Christian and North Polk 23-1 in 2 non conference games before falling to last year’s state runner up Winterset in the RRC opener Wednesday night 10-3. Perry played one of the elite teams in the state tough despite a disastrous 5th inning that saw Winterset pound out 7 runs and 7 hits. Perry will look to continue their non conference dominance tonight when they travel to Norwalk for a 7:30 varsity game.
The Perry baseball team is winless after 4 games after dropping close road games recently to North Polk and Norwalk. Perry is currently 0-4 on the season and will look to get their fortunes turned around next Tuesday when they host Dallas Center Grimes.
