Tom FiegenAbout a dozen people attended the meet and greet event in Jefferson on Wednesday for one of the Democratic candidates for United States Senate in the June primary election.

Tom Fiegen is the oldest of ten siblings and graduated with a law degree and a masters degree in economics from the University of Iowa. He addressed topics such as foreign policy, income inequality, supporting farmers and ways to stimulate the country’s economy. He says he is working for the people and not for campaign fundraising, but he believes through grassroots politics, he can get the Democratic nomination.

There are three things that Fiegen pointed out he believes puts him above the other three Democratic candidates. He says he is the most progressive of the Democrats, he wants to reinvent farming and also install vegetable farms and he supports the Des Moines Public Works water nitrite lawsuit.

Fiegen is running against Rob Hogg, Patty Judge and Bob Krause in the June 7th primary election.
