CMB (Baxter) won both the varsity softball and baseball games from the Greene County teams in Jefferson on Friday night. The softball game was a 5-4 final and was broadcast on KG98, while 11-2 was the baseball final.

Hannah Promes pitched well, but was the tough luck loser in softball. She allowed just two runs and two hits in the first six innings, but the seventh saw CMB get three runs on four hits to go with two Ram errors. Promes walked two batters and struck out one.

The Rams out hit the Raiders 11-6 and had five extra base hits. Senior Sydney Koch hit a single, double, and solo home run, that was a third inning line drive over the left field fence. The round-tripper was her first this season and second of her career. Senior Carleigh Paup doubled and tripled, and sophomore Megan Durbin added a double. Also, Promes and freshman Jenna Beyers each singled twice. Koch drove in two runs and Beyers had one RBI. The fourth Ram run score after a leadoff triple in the bottom of the seventh by Paup and Carey had an infield single. With Paup still at third, Carey was caught stealing for the first out of the inning and Paup scored on the throw to second. With two outs PRomes had a base hit, but a fly out to left ended the game. CMB is ranked 13th in Class 2A, is 3-0 overall and in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. The Rams fall to 1-2 overall and in the HOIAC.

Greene County is scheduled to play three times Saturday in the Ogden tournament starting with Ogden at 9 a.m.

In baseball, sophomore Wade Adcock gave the Rams a 2-0 lead with a two RBI single in the first inning, then it was all Raiders, who are 3-0 overall and in the conference. Branden Miller took the pitching loss after going two-plus innings and allowing five runs, four earned. Miller walked four, allowed two hits, and had no strikeouts. Dylan Fouch relieved and allowed six runs, five earned, on nine hits and three walks. He fanned four Raiders.CMB committed two errors and the Rams had three.

Greene County had seven hits, all singles. Calvin Skalla and Reid Lamoureux each had two hits with Adcock, Mac Adamson, and Logan Lansman getting one.

Greene County baseball is 0-2 overall and in league play and is off until Tuesday when they play South Hamilton in Jewell.
