The Perry boys soccer team will travel all the way to Hudson tomorrow for a Class 2A substate final against the top seeded Hudson Pirates. Perry and Hudson shut out their opponents Wednesday night in leading up to the much anticipated clash. The Bluejays will be looking for their 3rd straight trip to Des Moines and the state soccer tournament. Sophomore midfielder German Alvarenga says this year’s team is a little different from last year.
“I think our biggest threat are the three guys we have on the front end. David (Cardenas), Jesus (Rodriguez) and Ivan Garcia are so talented and so good at what they do. It is our job as midfielders to control the middle and make sure we put them in a position to do what they do best. To be honest Shawn, the area that has been really solid I think as been our defensemen. I think they have played really well behind us and it’s great to have confidence in those guys. We are looking forward to the game and it should be a lot of fun.”
Perry and Hudson will kick off at 12 noon tomorrow.
