The Jefferson Municipal Pool will be open for the first time this year on Saturday.

Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says the pool will be open for adult lap swim from 11:30am to 1pm Saturday through Memorial Day and from 1 to 8pm for open swim. Lautner points out that because of school on Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be different hours at the pool. It will be open for lap swim from 11:30am to 1pm and open swim will happen from 4 to 7pm.

A problem last year with the pool was that it was losing hundreds of thousands of gallons of water per month and Lautner notes that they found the problem with a main valve, but that the repairs won’t be done in time when the pool opens.

“ACCO was here and they put a valve in which should work and they have the other that they put a plug in it. But yes, we will be up and running but they were unable to get the parts that were needed and so that will be done in the fall after we close.”

After school is done for the year on June 1st, Lautner says the pool will be open normal hours everyday starting June 2nd.
