perry logoThe City of Perry is working to combat mosquitos again this spring.

While there is no way to completely eliminate the bugs, city crews will be out spraying for mosquitos each Thursday evening, weather permitting.  If it rains Thursday night, the spraying will happen Friday or Saturday evening instead.

Additionally, wet weather creates pools of standing water, which makes for prime breeding ground for mosquitos.  Residents are urged to check their yards and drains for any standing water that could be found in planters, buckets, water barrels, stopped up gutters or tires.   This should be done at least once a week, as the mosquitos lay eggs in standing water and it can take them up to 10 days to hatch.

If there is an area where standing water collects on a regular basis, the city has a chemical that can treat it and keep the bugs from maturing.

Anyone with questions can call the Perry City Hall at 465-2481.
