May continues to wind down but Bike Month is still in full swing in Perry.
Today kicks off Bike to Work Week where all cyclists are encouraged to put their keys away and get on two wheels if possible.
“It’s a national program, all across the country people are encouraged to ride (this) week. Not just this week, but it’s kind of an awareness to show you how easy it is to ride to work. Especially when you live in a community that has such good in town trails. Your commute is probably less than two miles. That you can do in your dress pants and dress shoes, you don’t even have to break a sweat. The idea here is just to show how easy it is, how fun cycling is, how great it would be everyone could ride their bike to work. Everyone would be a little bit more happy.”
That’s Chamber Executive Director Bob Wilson who reminds riders that family bike rides continue on Tuesdays and adult rides on Thursdays, leaving at 6pm from the Raccoon River Valley Bicycle Company and La Poste respectively.
