A Jefferson man was sentenced to prison in Boone County District Court after pleading guilty to a September 2014 incident.
Boone County Attorney Dan Kolacia says 21 year-old Berry Arthur Downs received the maximum sentence of five years in state prison after pleading guilty to a Class D Felony charge for third degree burglary. The charge stems from a reported house break-in on September 28, 2014. The investigation led authorities to Downs, who was suspected of breaking into the home through a window. Then during a traffic stop by Tama Police, Downs was found with one of the guitars from the burglary.
Kolacia tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Downs is involved in several other unrelated cases in Marshall, Story and Tama counties. His prison sentence in Boone County will run consecutively with those other cases after he has served time in the other counties.
