Next month 18 Perry High School students will travel to Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the national SkillsUSA competition.
In order to qualify for the Skills Conference, students need to win their contest at the state level.
Those representing Perry and the state of Iowa this summer include Devin Patrick in plumbing, Laruen Benjamin in photography, Jacob Quiijas in motorcycle technology, Jacob Murillo in masonry, Gabe Ridnour in technical drafting, Maggie Lamphier in early childhood development, Gage Welch and Tony Le in digital cinema production, TJ Sheehey and Sadee Whitfield in promotional bulletin board, Emilio Gonzales in job skill demonstration, Madyson Hill in criminal justice, Daniel Brinton in customer service and the team of Dax Kresse, Jairo Murillo, David Santacruz, Kaitlyn Barr and Patience Galivan for quiz bowl.
Additionally Brinton, Patrick, Sheehy and Whitfield serve as state officers and will be traveling to Louisville early for extensive leadership training.
