A deputy was dispatched for a car-deer accident on Highway 30 between Orchard and Pioneer Avenues. Brooke Michelle Cressler 24, of Fonda, driving a 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo struck a deer as it ran onto the roadway causing major damage to her vehicle. Cressler was not injured in the accident.

A deputy and the Sheriff responded to the 400 block of Bell Street in Churdan to help mediate a verbal altercation between roommates.

A deputy was asked to try and locate vagrant male hitchhiker that was walking east on Highway 30 in the eastbound lane. The caller reported that the male was almost struck by oncoming traffic several times. The male in question was never located by the deputy.

A deputy assisted a Department of Human Services caseworker with a sexual assault investigation.

A deputy assisted Greene County Emergency Medical Services personnel with a medical call in the 800 block of 8th Street in Scranton.

A deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with traffic control at Madison and Elm Streets after a young female was struck by a vehicle at the intersection while she was attempting to cross the street  on her bicycle.

A deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with a traffic stop on Madison Street in Jefferson. The vehicle was involved in a Sheriff’s Office case where damage was done to a barrier pole at McMann Access earlier in the day. The driver was evaluated by Field Sobriety testing.

A deputy was able to determine the owner of a dog that was running at large in the 600 block of Brentwood Avenue. The dog was transported to the shelter in Jefferson.

A deputy was dispatched to the 1800 block of Redwood Avenue for a vehicle that was reported to be driving carelessly  and leaving ruts in the gravel roadway. The vehicle was located by the deputy and the driver’s identity was determined.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
