Greene County High School has three girls’ events and six boys’ events in the Class 3A portion of the three-day Iowa High School Coed State Track & Field Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Sophomore Megan Durbin runs the preliminaries of the girls’ 100 meter dash at 10:45 this morning, then she high jumps at 11:30 a.m. Durbin is the Drake Relays high jump champion and the favorite in this event. The other girls’ event for the Rams is the sprint medley relay on Saturday morning with Melanie Doran, Laurin Lyons, Durbin, and Olivia Hansen.
Senior Max Neese runs the 100 meter dash prelims at 11 a.m. today, and the 200 prelims today at 1 p.m. The other four boys’ events for the Rams are tomorrow. Senior Matthew Gordon throws the shot, senior Daric Whipple runs the 400 meter low hurdles, where is the second fastest qualifier, and both the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay prelims are Friday afternoon. Juniors Chase Stoline and Logan Lansman join Neese and Whipple in the 4 x 100, and junior Nick Schroeder and senior Ethan Woodruff join Neese and Whipple in the 4 x 400.
Paton-Churdan’s lone qualifier is freshman Megan Carey. She’ll run in the Class 1A 400 meter dash final at 7 tonight.
