The Iowa High School Coed State Track & Field Meet begins today at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. Greene County qualified three events for girls and six for boys in the Class 3A portion of the meet. Among the competitors are veterans Megan Durbin and Olivia Hansen on the girls’ side, plus Max Neese and Daric Whipple for the boys. Newcomers to this meet are girls Melanie Doran and Laurin Lyons, plus Logan Lansman, Chase Stoline, Nick Schroeder, Ethan Woodruff, and Matthew Gordon for the boys.
Stoline told Raccoon Valley Radio he’s excited about running at Drake. “At the start of the year the main goal was to try and make it to the Blue Oval in something at least. I’ve gone (to watch) a few years and it’s definitely been a place that it would be fun to go to and be a part of.”
Lansman talked about his goals and the keys to a successful 4 x 100. “My goal is to place, but that’s just me. Set the goal high. The key is the handoffs. You can make up or lose a lot of time on the handoffs. That, and just running as fast as you can.”
All three Raccoon Valley Radio Stations with have updates all three days of the State Meet.
