Greene County High School has an individual champion crowned at the state track and field meet.

Raccoon Valley Radio’s Doug Reider reports that Megan Durbin won the Class 3A Girls High Jump. The winning jump was 5-feet and 5-inches and she won by having fewer misses. Durbin started out by missing her first jump of the day at four-feet and nine-inches, but then never missed again at four-feet and eleven-inches, five-feet and one-inch, five-feet and three-inches and finally five-feet and five-inches. Two other girls fighting for the top spot each had two or more misses before their final jumps.

Durbin is the first individual state track and field champion for a Jefferson-based program since 1995 and the first girl individual champion since 1994.

She also won the girls high jump at the Drake Relays earlier this year with a jump of five-feet and eight-inches, which was a personal best.
