Thursday, May 5th
A deputy was advised of criminal mischief to the restrooms at the city park in Churdan.
A deputy spoke with a resident in the 1500 block of 120th Street about a personal property civil issue.
A deputy was advised by a Jasper County Deputy of finding the pickup that was stolen earlier in the week from the 2300 block of U Avenue in Greene County. The pickup was reported to be found west of Baxter. The owner was advised that the pickup would be released to him.
A deputy was dispatched to check a suspicious red van driving around Rippey. It was reported that the driver was going door to door with some type of bag. The deputy located the van and driver and determined his identity and reason for being in town. It was determined that he was going door to door selling vacuums.
Dispatchers advised a deputy of a reported vehicle driving westbound on Highway 30 with just its amber running lights on. The vehicle was stopped near Pioneer Avenue and the driver was advised of the situation. The deputy assisted the driver with putting the lights on the auto setting for night time driving.
Friday, May 6th
A deputy was advised, for informational purposes only, of criminal mischief and vandalism occurring to several farm implements in northern Guthrie county.
A deputy was dispatched to 200 block of 11th Street in Grand Junction to help mediate a verbal dispute involving a personal property civil issue.
Two deputies assisted Jefferson Police Officers with traffic control during an accident investigation and cleanup at the intersection of Highway 30 and Mulberry Street.
A deputy checked a vehicle experiencing mechanical difficulties on Highway 30 near Jefferson. The deputy advised the driver to have the vehicle removed within 24 hours.
A deputy investigated a two vehicle accident that occurred on Central Avenue in Jefferson, for Jefferson Police Officers that were busy on other multiple calls. A 2010 Chevrolet Impala being driven by Tyler Christian Tiffany 25, of Grand Junction, was westbound on Central Avenue when Makala Jo Semke 35, of Jefferson, traveling eastbound on Central Avenue, proceeded to turn left into a private driveway and into the path of the Tiffany vehicle. Damage to the Semke 2009 Chevrolet Suburban, was estimated to be $3000 and Makala Semke was issued a citation for Failure to Yield upon Left Turn. Damage was estimated to be $5000 to the Tiffany vehicle with no injuries reported by either driver.
A deputy transported a dog found running at large in Grand Junction to the animal shelter in Jefferson.
Two deputies were dispatched to the Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction to investigate two suspicious vehicles. The drivers were identified and allowed to continue.
Saturday, May 7th
Three members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Junction Fire and Rescue and Greene County Emergency Medical Services assisted the Iowa State Patrol with investigating a single vehicle accident that occurred just east of Grand Junction on Highway 30. The accident took the lives of the driver of the vehicle and his passenger. The vehicle was eastbound on Highway 30, and had just crossed over the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge, when the car veered to the left striking the cable guard rail. The Chevrolet Corvette then proceeded under the cables and down the bridge embankment, striking a tree. It is believed that the accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday and not noticed until the daylight.
A deputy was asked to check the Jefferson Airport for a small experimental plane that was lost from radar in this area. The plane was later reported to be located at another airport by the FAA.
A deputy was advised of a possible burglary and criminal mischief to a building site in the 100 block of J Avenue.
A deputy was dispatched to the Seven Hills Park to determine the driver of a vehicle reported to be driving recklessly and traveling off the driveway in the mud. The driver and the passengers agreed to fix the ruts left by the vehicle.
A deputy was dispatched to the 900 block of J Avenue for a reported harassment concern and possibly other criminal charges.
A deputy was out of position and unable to locate a reported careless and erratic driver on Highway south of Jefferson.
A deputy was dispatched to the 700 block of W Avenue to investigate a reported suspicious vehicle driving slowly by farm residences. A vehicle description was determined but not located upon the deputy’s arrival.
A deputy responded to a driving complaint and noise concern in the 500 block of Lincoln street in Scranton.
A deputy was asked to check several open doors at a vacant building at 100 East Main Street in Grand Junction. The owner of the building was contacted and advised of the situation.
A deputy was asked to remove a cat that had been struck and run over in the 500 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction.
A deputy was dispatched to the 600 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction to investigate a reported assault. The assault is under investigation at this time.
A deputy assisted Boone County deputies with trying to locate a pickup that fled from a deputy in Boone County.
Sunday, May 8th
A deputy was assisted by a Carroll County deputy with trying to locate an intoxicated male subject that was reported to be try to inflict injury upon himself after jumping from a vehicle at McMahon Access. The male was later reported to be back in Carroll with relatives.
A deputy was dispatched to the S curves on 235th Street (old Highway 30) east of Jefferson for an abandoned vehicle that was on it’s top with the lights still on. Jordan Marcus Lee Ward 22, of Jefferson, admitted to being the driver of the eastbound 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix when he lost control on the curve. The female passenger and Ward were not injured but the vehicle sustained an estimated $3000 in damages. Jordan Ward was issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.
A deputy was dispatched for cattle along the roadway on Highway 4 north of Churdan. The deputy placed the cattle back into the pasture.
A deputy was advised of an erratic and careless driver eastbound from Grand Junction on Highway 30. Due to the deputy being in the western part of the county, Boone County was advised of the vehicle.
A Scranton resident came to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center to speak with a deputy about a harassment concern.
A deputy was dispatched to the 500 block of Lincoln Street in Scranton to speak with the driver of a vehicle reported to be driving carelessly on a dirt track at that location. The driver was advised that citations could be issued due to the noise concern.
A deputy was dispatched to the 1500 block of 170th Street to investigate a reported suspicious vehicle. The car and driver were located by the deputy.
Monday, May 9th
A deputy spoke with a resident in the 1800 block of D Avenue about a harassment concern.
A deputy was advised of an erratic and careless driver in the 400 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction. The vehicle and driver were identified but not located at that time.
A deputy was dispatched to Paton to investigate a reported identity theft involving an individual’s credit card being compromised.
A deputy was dispatched to the 700 block of Hills Street in Churdan to help mediate a verbal domestic altercation involving a juvenile.
A deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of West Hager Street in Grand Junction to investigate a report of attempted criminal mischief to several trucks.
Tuesday, May 10th
A deputy was dispatched to the Grand Junction Laundry Mat to investigate criminal mischief to several coin machines on the washers and dryers.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
