A special ceremony to honor a nurse will be at Greene County Medical Center tomorrow.
The DAISY Award is given to a nurse that shows extraordinary patient care. The DAISY Award started in 1999 in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who passed away from Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). His family wanted to recognize the nursing staff that took care of Barnes while he was in their care.
The first DAISY Award winner, at Greene County Medical Center, was clinician nurse Jenny Taylor in August of 2014. This time, there are seven nominees including Sarah Borgeson, Karen Carman, Jill Juergensen, Brenda Luther, Victoria McCool, Tammy Spaulding and Kelsey Stumbo.
The ceremony will take place at 10am on Wednesday in the education classroom at the medical center. The public is invited to attend the free program.
