DSCN4003Two people are dead following a one vehicle accident on a bridge near Grand Junction Saturday.

Greene County Sheriff Steve Haupert says he and two deputies, Iowa State Patrol, Greene County Emergency Medical Services, Grand Junction Fire and Rescue and the Department of Transportation responded to the crash around 6:30am.

A Chevrolet corvette was traveling east on Highway 30, when for some unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway on the overpass bridge near Grand Junction and rolled several times down a hill on the northside.DSCN4026

Haupert tells Raccoon Valley Radio the two occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names haven’t been released. The vehicle is a total loss. The bridge was closed for about five hours and reopened around 11:45am.

Iowa State Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
