The Greene County High School girls’ track & field team started the season with many questions, but by the time the regular season was completed on May 6, head coach Kelly Simpson had quite a few answers. The Rams go to Winterset on May 12 for a Class 3A Coed State Qualifying Meet. “We graduated a great bunch of seniors last year, so it was really about filling some gaps, finding out how competitive we could be in meets, and could we fill all the events. That’s really what we tried to accomplish and going into it there were a lot of questions, but now that the season is ending, we feel really good about where we are with the events we have, the progress the team has made, and really kind of the future because this is a young team and I feel like we’ve started to build for next year and beyond.”

The State Qualifying Meet on May 12 starts at 4 p.m. with Greene County and Winterset being joined by teams from ADM, Perry, Chariton, Carlisle, Dallas Center-Grimes, and Saydel (Des Moines).
