The high school track and field regular season ended on Thursday for the Greene County teams under beautiful weather conditions in Alleman at North Polk High School. The Rams were fourth in the girls’ team race and fifth on the boys’ side.

North Polk won both team titles. The Comets edged Gilbert 170-166 for the girls’ title with South Hamilton (Jewell) at 78, Greene County 76, ADM 49, and Perry 37. The NP boys had 133 points to 128 by Norwalk, 88 for Mount Ayr, 74 for SH, 71 by the Rams, and 58 points for Dallas Center-Grimes. More than one team ran “light” either just coming off a conference meet or in some cases having a conference meet tomorrow.

The Rams won three girls’ events and all were field event. Winners for the Greene County girls were Kenna Marquardt in the discus throw (107′ 9-3/4″), Megan Durbin in the high jump (5′ 2″) and Janelle Brophy in the long jump (15′ 1-3/4″).

For the Greene County boys, victories were in the 4 x 100 meter relay in :44.62 with Max Neese, Chase Stoline, Logan Lansman, and Daric Whipple; shuttle hurdle relay in 1:02.50 with Whipple, Stoline, Lansman, and Tyler Beger; Neese in the 100 meter dash in :11.25, and the 200 meter dash in :22.92; Whipple in the 400 meter low hurdles in :57.21.

The Rams go to Winterset on May 12 for a Class 3A Coed State Qualifying Meet.
