The Jefferson Municipal Pool will receive some needed upgrades ahead of when it opens for the year.
Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says the City Council designated $10,000 of additional Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation funds to use on the swimming pool. She says they will use the money to replace the concession stand roof with a metal one, repair the shade area between the concession stand and the baby pool and replace some of the benches with new, recyclable material benches. Lautner is appreciative of the support from the City to help with projects with the pool facility.
“We’re real excited about because these are things that I’ve tried to get done the past five years and there’s not been money in the budget to it. We’ve not been able to get a grant to do it. So it’s nice that we can do things like that.”
Lautner also invites the public to a “work day” at the pool on May 14th. Call the Greene County Community Center for more information at 386-3412.
The pool will open on May 28th for the summer.
